RESEARCH & CONSULTANCY
In delivering the Centre’s consultancy services, both nationally and internationally, CCES draws on cumulative expertise in such areas as customs modernisation, capacity building, trade facilitation, risk management, compliance management, IT systems, legislative reform, and business process re-engineering.
Consistent with its mission statement, the Centre’s study visits, consultancy services, and educational programs are the product of extensive research. For example, a comprehensive study, commissioned by the ASEAN Secretariat, involved detailed in-country research in the ten ASEAN economies, in order to assess the extent of compliance with the World Trade Organization’s Valuation Agreement, and to evaluate the region’s capacity to effectively implement the provisions of that Agreement.
Research such as this also provides the basis for our training programs and workshops designed to familiarise participants with current developments in all facets of Customs and international trade policy and practice.
Each of the Centre’s consultancies has been designed to build the capacity of agencies to comply with new and far-reaching international conventions.
