Course Description

This course is aimed at companies and individuals involved in the export industry, such as brokers, freight forwarders and consolidators who are involved in or who have an interest in developing an export market in defence related goods. The export of defence material is sensitive and exporters must be aware of Government requirements to successfully meet their export obligations. The industry introductory program emphasises the steps that industry needs to take to develop and maintain an internal compliance program for management of their export responsibilities. The course will provide students with a knowledge and understanding of the controls that are in place. The topics addressed in this subject will include:

  • reasons for controls
  • export control administration
  • goods covered by export controls
  • permits and licences
  • import and re-export of strategic goods
  • risk of diversion
  • penalties
